In 2021, more and more people are working from home. As were all settling into our new offices, were all trying to find the best work from home setups.
Some people like to work with external monitors and other people enjoy using only their laptops on their desks.
As were all trying to live a healthier lifestyle, using a standing desk is a great way to achieve that goal. For some, if you already have a sitting desk that you love, getting a standing desk can be a challenge. Luckily, standing desk converters exist to solve this problem!
Because there are lots of standing desk converters out there, I rounded up some of my favorites!
StandStand
Its so good, they named it twice! The StandStand got its start on Kickstarter. Some of the benefits include its ability to pack light and use it anywhere.
If you’re using this on a desk, you can keep the StandStand tucked away in a drawer or somewhere else on your desk and it use when you feel the need to stand.
You can also use this around your house on existing surfaces, like your kitchen counter or really anywhere else around your house!
Because of its lightweight nature and design, the original StandStand has no additional surfaces for you to use a keyboard, mouse or anything else, like a cup of coffee.
Check out StandStand! They have a few different options that might work out well for what you’re looking for.
Readydesk
There are a few different types of Readydesk options. The one thats best for a desk converter is their Readydesk2 standing desk converter. These are also sold on Amazon.
Their clever design contains slots for you to customize the position of the included shelves. Its easily to put together without any tools.
It has a cross-brace support which will help keep everything stable.
The actual usable surfaces have enough room for you to use your keyboard and mouse. You can put your monitor on the upper shelf and do all of your typing from the lower shelf.
Because the Readydesk is more rigid than some of the other options, this is one of the better options for converting a surface to a standing desk more permanently. It wont be as easy to set this up every time that you want to stand on your every day desk, for example.
Cooper standing desk converter, by Fully
Fully is one of my favorite desk companies. They make excellent standing desks and can be trusted to know how to actually produce a great surface to work on.
The Cooper standing desk converter is a perfect example on how they are changing the came for desk converters.
It is carefully thought out and allows you to sit or standing, using your existing desk. It also looks great!
Varidesk Pro Plus
The options from Varidesk are what you would more commonly see in corporate offices. Their aesthetic is more corporate and traditional. I don’t have a bios one way or the other.

Their desk converts are more on the expensive side, but claim to be commercial-grade, safe and stable.
Because the design collapses, you can add this to your desk and adjust to the standing position when you’re looking for a change.
If you’re not going to stand very often, something like this is a lot to keep on your desk. Because of its quality and strength, its one of the more expensive options. In fact, you can get a standing desk for the price on some of the more expensive models that they have.
It might be worth considering a way to actually get a standing desk, if possible!
Ergotron WorkFit
Ergotron has a few models for you to choose from that allow you to convert your existing desk into a standing desk.
Depending on the size of your desk, you can check out the WorkFit-Z, for smaller desks and workspaces, the WorkFit-T for regular sized desks and workspaces and finally, the WorkFit-TL for the biggest work area.
Each specific model of the Ergotron will have slightly different features, like the ability to use the Ergotron in corners, for example.
In general, all Ergotronr models will have outstanding quality and strength. You can place external monitors and use a keyboard and mouse on these without any issues.
You’ll be productive and be able to sit at the desk that you’re the most comfortable at, and slide this into the stand position to stretch your legs and get an updated (albeit slight) scenery change.
WorkEZ Standing Desk
The WorkEZ standing desk converter is a great option if you’re looking to save some space. This is not a dedicated option for your desk, so you can tuck it away when you’re not using it.
You can also place this stand converted on another surface in your office to convert something non traditional into an actual usable desk.
It includes a keyboard tray attachment as well as a stand for you to use an external monitor. The WorkEZ doesn’t have a big surface area. You will only have room to use your keyboard and mouse and you wont have any additional surface area for anything else.
Seville Classics airLIFT
Because of the airlift system, this desk convert is one of the easier ones to adjust up and down. Some of the other desk converters on this list are spring loaded, which may be more challenging to move up and down.
One other interesting feature with the Seville airLIFT is the tablet stand in the center of the surface. For me, this is great because I use my iPad frequently as I am working. Its a great device to keep track of your email or use other productivity tools that only work on your iPad.
If you’re on a Mac, and have the latest version of the Mac OS and a relatively new iPad, you can use Sidecar to use your iPad as a second screen.
